Green Thumb CSA – Huntington – is about to begin please Join NOW!!

Happy Spring!

At Green Thumb CSA – Huntington, we’re all ready to start eating local certified organic vegetables, herbs and fruits, and smelling our local certified organic flowers, and hope that you’ll want to join us! The time to join is now as the CSA begins June 4th!!!

Please use the CONTACT US (below-right side) to request info about our CSA, and CSAs in general. After you’ve read everything over completely, you’ll have a good idea about how this CSA works, and the general CSA philosophy and process. If you don’t see the email in your “Inbox”, please check your junk/spam folder as it might end up there because of all the attachments. However, if you didn’t get it, please let me know (email AND a phone call are a safer bet) and we’ll figure out how to go from there.

Sorry it’s taken so long to get back to you this season but it’s been a unique year in our CSA’s 18 year history. It was an extreme winter for every farmer on Long Island for this reason, our normal starting date at the end of April was moved forward to the beginning of June. We also just received our contract information.

Another unexpected surprise, at the very last minute, we’ve moved our CSA pickup location to the Cinema Arts Centre, 423 Park Ave, Huntington, after being at the same location for 16 years. We couldn’t send out the contracts to everyone until the CSA location was finalized and that’s just happened.

Also new this season, if you are a current member of the Cinema Arts Centre (or join the Cinema before you join the CSA), as a perk of Cinema membership, you will get a $50 discount on your Work Deposit Fee! So, instead of it being $100, you’d pay $50 for the Work Deposit…and instead of getting back $100 if you work for 12 hours, you’d get back $50. That means your check that you make out to “Green Thumb CSA – Huntington” would be for $75 ($25 – yearly Adminstrative Fee + $50 – discounted Work Deposit = $75).

I started Green Thumb CSA - Huntington 17 years ago because I was tired of going to the health food store and purchasing Lettuce, Bananas and a loaf of bread, and it seemed like that alone was costing me almost $20! After trying to grow my own food, visiting farm stands and farmers markets, and being a co-op member, I’ve found this CSA to be the best way for me to get a good selection of reasonably priced, local, certified FRESH organic produce.

If after you look this information over and know that the CSA is something you want to do, contact me so I’ll put your name on the member list AND let me know what date you want to start picking up your CSA share.

If you want to make an appointment to tour the CSA before joining, please make an appointment. At the end of your visit, you’ll be given a free sample from the CSA share for that week.

Thanks for your interest in CSA!
